It's unbelievable to me that you are complaining about this. What other company have you ever dealt with that would do that for you?

You bought your computer OVER a month before they announced the new iMacs. I understand you being frustrated that you didn't have iLife 08, but Apple went above and beyond what they should have done for you.

You don't deserve a Mac you cheap baby.

Hey Mike,

Meant to say this sooner -- thanks for the tip on the Apple customer rep. We're going to give it a shot.

Scott: I contacted Apple's customer support at 1-800-676-2775 (Mon-Fri 7am-10pm, Sat-Sun 9am-6pm CT). The rep I spoke with was Erika; sorry, I didn't get her last name. Good luck to you!

Paul and Squidly: yeah, ok. It is nice that I'll be able to get one of the new computers and save a little money in the process (they even sent me a pre-paid shipping label for my return). I guess I felt a little deflated at the end, because I had "we'll exchange the old computer for a new one and refund the difference, and give you a new iLife08 for the Mac Pro" for most of the phone call. The restocking fee came up, almost like an afterthought, at the very end of the call, just before I hung up. She literally said, "Oh, by the way..." lol. But yeah, it's a good deal anyway, so I should be glad I don't have to go entirely without. I'm sure Dell would have told me to stuff it.

I think you made out like a bandit, frankly. After missing the cutoff I figured they'd send you a family copy of iLife 08 and *maybe* a small refund for the difference. To get a new machine is awesome.

To be honest, they don't have any legal obligation to do anything for you, so I think I wouldn't be too unhappy with that, after all, both products were announced at the time of purchase.

With regards to the cut off fee, it is tight being only a few days but they DO have to pick a cutoff date and then if they bend the rules for someone 3 days before then people who order 6 days before would complain and then 9 and where would it end, I'm afraid they have to name a cut-off date and stick by it

It sucks but that's life sometimes I'm afraid, don't be too stressed about it all, U don't if you bought a PC from a shop in a similar situation you would get much joy

Hey Mike,

Earlier this month, I got a new MacBook for my daughter, before iLife 08 came out. Would you happen to know the name and phone extension # of the customer service rep who worked with you? Thought I'd give her a call...

Thanks,
Scott
